I LOVE this topic.
The art of refreshing your space externally & internally to feel lighter and more aligned with the life you truly desire.
Every human being accumulates clutter.
Our environment is full of excess & abundance with an emphasis on more, getting, not getting rid of.
Over time, we're left with all this "stuff" and mediocracy --- weighed down by our past.
Clutter clearing is a filtering system --- sorting and discerning for quality and alignment; eliminating anything that does not fit into who we want to be, what we want to own, and how we want to live.
It's not about getting rid of things you love --- it's about getting rid of anything that you don't.
What Defines Clutter?
Anything you're holding onto that no longer brings joy or utility.
Anything neglected, forgotten, or unwanted.
Anything untidy or disorganized.
Anything unfinished (buttons that need sewing on, phone calls you need to make, etc.).
Something in your life that feels stagnant or emotionally sticky.
Gentle Reminders
The goal isn't to have no clutter ever; we will always have some.
No amount of clutter is too much to clear.
Something that was once loved by you, regularly used, may very well have served its role, lived out its timeline.
Embrace where you are now and take the smallest, most manageable step forward.
Do what you can, take a break, and then come back when you feel excited to.
Getting Started, Actionable Steps
Identify an area of your space that weighs you down, where you know there is clutter. Start there.
Make a mess — it won't look pretty until after.
Separate clutter (in boxes or trash bags) as trash, donate, or repurpose/regift.
To determine whether or not to get rid of something, ask: “Does this energize me, spark joy, and align with the life I want to be living?”
Be honest to the best of your ability.
For items you feel sincerely indecisive about, place them in a Maybe Box (I LOVE the Maybe Box)
Rules for the Maybe Box:
Place it somewhere out of sight for 6-12 months.
If you didn't need something after 6-12 months and you can't name what's in it, get rid of it without reopening.
Junk Drawers: Have one!
Designate one drawer in the room that you can just throw things into.
Clutter clearing isn’t about being obsessively perfect—it’s about handling your belongings in a way that keeps your energy vibrant and flowing rather than dull and stagnant.
3 rules of the Junk Drawer:
1. Choose a small drawer.
2. Use it sparingly.
3. Have regular clear-outs.
Sentimental stuff: Keep the best and fling the rest!
It’s fine to keep some mementos of happy times, provided they still have current value for you and are not so numerous that they anchor you too much in the past instead of the present.
Final Notes
Keeping something "just in case" indicates a lack of trust in the future and a sense of scarcity in the present.
Less is more. Truly.
Let the concept of "Does this bring me joy, energy, and value?" be your filter for EVERYTHING you choose to focus on or keep in your life.
You are 100% capable and worthy. Have fun with it! Play music.
I love you and I hope this helps.
